Our six editorial tiers
| Tier | Points | Depth |
|---|---|---|
| Surface | 10 | 100 m |
| Familiar | 15 | 150 m |
| Uncommon | 30 | 300 m |
| Rare | 60 | 600 m |
| Deep cut | 85 | 850 m |
| Hidden gem | 100 | 1000 m |
Editorial tiers are not player percentages
We assign fixed tiers to the answers in each question’s curated list. They reflect an editorial judgment about familiarity and challenge. We have not surveyed every player, and we do not label an answer “chosen by 0.1%” without measurements.
The same recognized answer earns the same points on repeated runs. This makes the practice score understandable and reproducible. Scores on this site are not interchangeable with scores in the original Krillion game.
A worked example
For the eight-planets prompt, Earth is an obvious anchor. A less immediately recalled planet can have a higher editorial tier in our list. Pluto does not earn points in that prompt because it asks for one of the eight planets, rather than dwarf planets.
From points to depth
Depth is simply your points multiplied by 10. A 300-point dive reaches 3,000 displayed metres; 700 points reaches 7,000. It is a game visual, not a measure of knowledge or intelligence.
Zero-score rounds
Skipping or letting the 25-second timer expire records zero. An unlisted guess stays editable until time expires; it does not instantly count as a miss. You cannot replace an already accepted answer with a higher-scoring one.
